Police Service Commission has approved the promotion of Olusegun Efuntayo, Assistant Inspector General of Police ( Zone 9, Umuahia,) to the rank of Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG).
A statement in Abuja on Monday by Emmanuel Ojukwu, Force Public Relations Officer, said the approval was based on the recommendation of the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Ogbonna Onovo.
According to the statement, Efuntayo will head "F" Department in charge of Management Service of the Force.
Onovo, while decorating the newly promoted DIG with his new rank at the Force Headquarters, charged him to see the elevation as a call to higher service.
The IG urged Efuntayo to redouble his effort in police duties, adding: "to whom much is given, much is also expected".
Responding, Efuntayo thanked God for the elevation and pledged to work to justify the responsibility bestowed on him.
